Acting as the county seat for Union County, Marysville, Ohio was named after the daughter of an early surveyor, Samuel W. Cuthbertson. Marysville experienced steady growth over the years. The first courthouse was constructed in 1840 and by the 1870s the town also had a jail and official treasury.
