Bexley, Ohio was officially incorporated in 1908 and is located in Franklin County. The name Bexley derives from the birthplace of an early resident, whose family was from Bexley England. Originally founded as a village, Bexley has retained much of its historic charm, as captured by the preserved estates and old houses that are concentrated in the Bullit Park area. Most famous of these houses is the Jeffrey Park Mansion, which has historically acted as the Ohio Governor's Mansion. The building has been the official residence of Ohio governors, though current Governor John Kasich chose to remain in his private home while serving in office. In 2013, Bexley become the first officially city in America to be accredited as an arboretum. Bexley is also the site of Capital University and Trinity Lutheran Seminary.
