Originally platted in the early 1800s, Kingston is a small rural community located in Ross County. Ross County was originally established in 1798 and was originally the site of man indigenous mounds built by local tribes.

It was later purchased by the Bennett family in the early 1970s, who renovated and restored the theater back into optimal condition.
